We picked up Liz's 'new to her rig'. Went and got two new batteries (what a story), but only one hooked up as she went from 6 volt to 12 volt. Then hit the road....about 4 p.m. But since we were on the far west side of Houston, the traffic was not a factor, just lots of it, but that's all. I had Simba with me and that was quite a trip. When we left Houston, he was standing up in the back and looking out the back of the car. There was Liz behind us driving the rig. He was satisfied. It took about half an hour for him for him to settle down and lay down.
We made it all the way to the Rest Stop near Victoria before we made our first stop. After the stop, Simba, was up looking to see if Liz was following us. Took him, again, about half an hour for him to settle down and lay down. When we got to the RV Park he was ready to be out of there and go to Liz. He didn't throw up at all on the trip....you just never know.
No pics for this trip.
The Egg was my first venture in traveling. It was a Casita so I named the blog in it's honor.

Goliad State Park waiting and recovery
Liz is using Karen's rig but she doesn't drive that large (30 ft) of Class C. So I drove it up from Mustang Island State Park and then went back for my rig.
We will be here until Sat. 3/10. Then the park fills up with Spring Breakers. We will move on to another park near here that is out in the country and is a Passport America member. Looks to be a nice park.

GTG Mustang Island State Park
Unfortunately, there were so many things happening at this time in my life, that I did not have the energy and effort to put into this GTG.

An Epic Day
Today, Liz and I left Goliad State Park and drove to Aransas Wildlife Refuge where we drove around doing some general sightseeing and, of course, some birding. We were looking for any birds and specific the Whooping Cranes and Roseate Spoonbills. The far out pics were so impacted by the heat shimmer that it is difficult to even see what the birds are.
We left there and went to Goose Island Park and drove thru and around the park. The Big Tree was great. However, it was preceded by some to die looks at a group of Whooping Cranes. Definitely pics to follow here.
We spent a couple of nights at the Wal-Mart in Rockport. Filled up with gas and left headed to have lunch at The Big Fisherman and then on to North Padre Island National Seashore for camping at Bird Basin. However, that did not happen.
Just south of Rockport on Hwy35 Business, a car, Chevy Malibu, was being driven erratically, crossed the road and hit the Silver Lining head-on. Both drivers ended up hospitalized. Liz was released from the hospital early evening. I have chosen to not comment on the other driver other than she was hospitalized in Corpus Christi and her insurance company may be 'catch me if you can' company. But then I wasn't impressed with Liz's insurance until the 16th of March.
This starts a three week cycle of insurance saga, recovery, search, look and purchase of a 'new to her rig' for Liz. A really sad part of this story is the escape and loss of her kitty, Bandit. Please pray for his recovery for Liz.

Travels with Liz - Goliad State Park
This is such a nice park. Lots of green, a river running through it, San Antonio River, and many epic Texas history places nearby.
Again, will post pics later.

Rig fixes
Had a warranty issue with my dinette slide on my rig. Went back to dealership to fix. While I was having that done, Liz took her Silver Lining to have the entry door repaired.
When both were completed we decided to head out for Goliad State Park.

Travels with Liz - Texas Valley
We have lots of birding planned and will do some fun things while we are down here in the "Valley". Places planned so far are NWR at Laguna Atascosa; South Padre Island Birding Center; Quinta Mazatlan; Frontera Audubon.
Will have pics to post later. May end up changing and making multiple posts.
