Stonewall, TX Pink Flamingo GTG

Made the trip to Stonewall for the Pink Flamingo GTG a day early. Vickie and Ronnie came a day early, too. Sprinter came by for a visit and to meet face to face with Vickie and Ronnie as they have been friends on facebook for a very long time. That is so neat!! Then I saw two ladies walking across the parking lot. It was Martha and Pat. WooHoo they were here early too! How neat to meet up with friends that you haven't seen in a long time. This GTG is going to be great. Lots of ladies coming in Thursday. Spent a long time visiting. Vickie fixed burgers and we planned some eating places while they are here along with Sprinter.

Did I say this is going to be a great GTG!!!!

Preparation for heading North to Alaska

Currently trying to get everything completed so that I can turn the GPS to the North. Need to get my car inspected and buy a lottery ticket so I can win.

Completed having the warranty work done on the rig today. I have learned a little about scheduling warranty work to be done. Find out how long it will take to do the work. Factor fudge of one hour and then schedule your work at 4 p.m. minus the number of work hours estimated. Will try that the next time. This time the appt was 10 and I got out at 4 p.m.  Already have an item for warranty work when I get back from Alaska. That's okay. Gotta get all this free stuff done while I can because one day it won't be free.

Now when I had the warranty work on the engine completed it was a different story. The Service Advisor said it would take most of the day. The recall letter said 4 hours. So I expected it to take 'most of the day'. Well I was late getting there....bad timing on my part and made a turn for the short cut road only to see....road work expect delays....too late as I was already committed in the turn. So I went down a ways and made a U-turn. You can do that in a Class A with a toad very easily, I found out! So was 45 minutes late. But they called me 3 hours later and told me it was ready to pick up. Could not believe it....actually they called me 2 times to tell me it was completed and ready for pick up. Bluebonnet Ford in New Braunfels on I-35 if you need Ford work done. I actually had taken my Class C there and had it inspected prior to tagging it.

Will be "free-basing" at Cabela's tonight. I didn't want to stay in their campground, so I decided to come over to the back of Cabela's. I did buy a pair or shoes in there today. So that is partial payment for the spot.  Have company with other travel trailers, and 5ers in the parking lot. Of course, there are bunches of tractor trailers. I parked by a trailer without tractor. That means he will be coming in about 3 a.m. and clunking around hooking up and then roaring out.

I will be heading out to Stonewall tomorrow for the Pink Flamingo GTG (rally). Should be a fun time with a bunch of fun loving RVing ladies. From Stonewall I will be heading up north of Austin for a couple of days and then I'll mosey thru west Texas staying at Texas State Parks. Will try to stay at one of the Oklahoma State Parks, too. I expect to meet up with some of the Lady Yahoo's ( I just made that up on the spot ) who are going to AK and it looks like it might be in Eastern Colorado. Now that would be pretty wonderful!

Cranes Mill a nice spot

Arrived at Cranes Mill RV park, a COE Park. Found old friends are gate attendants here. Was good to see them. They are lots of fun. Met the couple who will be Park Hosts at the park, too. Another very interesting couple. I love RVers.

This park was rebuilt and additional sites added to the RV area. They are really nice sites, but they are closer together than across the lake. They are mostly level sites, too. The bathrooms were in a bit of chaos because they were not being attended to. The other lake has what I call "faux cleaners". They are folks that are supposed to come around pick up trash at camp sites, wash the patio tables, clean out the bathrooms. Not hard work, but I walk the park and they would drive around the grounds and many times would not even stop in the loops and then drive back out. Other times, they would stop and wash a couple of patios, pick up a little trash, and never enter the bathrooms. Absolutely fraud on a large scale. Okay enough whining...no cheese to go with it!

Continued with getting things set and ready for the long summer that is coming up. Alaska!!!

Was a really nice spring time in Oklahma. Still too early for storms, but they will come. They have had a lot rain. That's a good thing.

Victoria for fixes

I told Liz I'd go with her to Victoria to walk thru the steps of getting her rig ready. She was going to get (1) extenders to take to the tire shop, get (2) 7 new tires installed on her rig, (3) do her laundry, (4) do a Wal-Mart load, (5) do a Lowes stop, and then over night at one of the lots in Victoria. We finished 1 and 2, then loaded up the laundry and went to get that done. I baby sat Simba while she did the work. We then put everything in her rig hugged good bye and I went into Wal-Mart for my run and she walked Simba. I got home by about 5:45. Got a couple of photos of flowers on the way home.

Time to deliver the rented RV back to it's owner. I'll be driving to Kerrville and delivering this to Karen. Diana will pick me up there and we will drive back to Goliad for the night and then Diana will head out to Austin.

Encino Grande RV Park outside Goliad

This is a small park and the spaces are close together. But it is off from the main highway and the area around the park is just fabulous. It is well maintained and ran very well.

I reported an electrical wiring and the owner said she would have her electrican repair it.

This is a beautiful RV park during the spring. Can hardly wait to come back for the fall.
