Liz, Ashley, Jennifer and I went on a birding wood gathering walk. On Otter Lake, which apparently has no otters, we found Scaup, Horned Grebe and maybe a Mallard mom with babies (no pics).
This shot was as we were leaving Tatlanika this morning. A big product up here are the paper birch. The native Alaskans use them to make kitchen utensils and they have many other uses too.

They burn really well in camp fires as you can see.
A few other birds were cooperative and posed for us. Working on the gull – but one is a California Gull the other? Man I need to study them more.
