A view outside my front window

Well, I guess that someone has to look at it (this view). We all get the opportunity to do so this afternoon and a bit in the morning.

Liz, Ashley, Jennifer and I went on a birding wood gathering walk. On Otter Lake, which apparently has no otters, we found Scaup, Horned Grebe and maybe a Mallard mom with babies (no pics).

This shot was as we were leaving Tatlanika this morning. A big product up here are the paper birch. The native Alaskans use them to make kitchen utensils and they have many other uses too.

Black Capped Chickadee

They burn really well in camp fires as you can see.

A few other birds were cooperative and posed for us. Working on the gull – but one is a California Gull the other? Man I need to study them more.

Yellow Rumped Warbler

This is why!

White Crowned Sparrow

 California Gull

I don't know what to call it

So we go back to the front window.

Birding the Grebes

Did some birding today south of Nenana down south of Tatlanika and back. Saw some really nice birds. Most of the birds were on 'float plane' ponds.

Horned Grebe - same bird several shots!

Red-Necked Grebe with baby.

Grebe Nest

Mom on the nest.

Mom Wigeon and babies.

Nenana City Pond reflections.

Big cabbage

Did I mention that there are a lot of mosquitos up here. They really like to take a bite out of you. They have even got on my head back where the opening for the hat is and they left little bumps on my head!!!
